Some serve as a call for action, some give perspective, and a number of are just as is. Each of these films take you to an India so varied, you will wonder how they are bound by the same constitution.

1. Chai - Gitanjali Rao

A remarkable short movie by Gitanjali Rao, Chai gives us four different stories in around Eleven minutes. Using merely montages, avoiding faces, and during voice overs, this short offers perspectives of India that seem mainly different but are innately Indian. What links them is the supposed character - the most beloved beverage in the country - Chai.

2. Little Terrorist - Ashvin Kumar

This small by Ashvin Kumar tells the story of a young lad who naively crosses the border. Here's a celebration of the humanity, love, & hospitality that resides in the hearts & minds of the country. What it also brings with it is the traditions that we will perhaps never part from. However, that does not restrict us from being person. To us, this movie comes across as a celebration of India.
3. One Day Mataram - Vijayeta Kumar

We wake up. We keep in mind. We celebrate. We forget. That’s first and foremost what One Day Mataram shows us - the stark realism. The video celebrates our idea of festivity for a single day, plus through it, leaks our blatant hypocrisy.
4. Kali - Amoghavarsha

Amoghavarsha’s Kali is the most sole movie on this list. A docu-short, this movie takes us to the India that none of the other shorts on the list do. It is an India that exists, and is yet so hardly ever mentioned, adored, and explored. And that may just be the motive why it managed to stay as beautiful as it is.

5. Village of Widows - Ashoke Pandit

Here’s a docu-short that will regrettably leave you teary eyed. In the midst of the loveliness that is Kashmir State, in the epicenter of the best that nature has to offer us, lay thousands of unheard voices. The short makes you query our unwarranted greed and the untenable losses of war.

6. Bawdi - Vivek Soni

Director Vivek Soni’s diploma movie at Whistling Woods was one among four luminous shorts that comprised Chaar Cutting, that Jamuura brought to our plays screens. Integrated in a love story, is the lack of water, the reign of multinationals, a village at the edge of dump, a resistance, and a father-son relationship. In just 20 minutes of its run, Bawdi takes you through a tirade of emotions, & gives you the promise of a luminous director coming your w ay.

7. 3 Shades - Vivek Joshi

This short takes onward the truth shown in One Day Mataram. though, the director has his own take on it. He integrates that extremely concept in the story of a helpless young lad who has the whole thing going against him, for no mistake of his.

8. Bombay Mirror - Shlok Sharma
Shlok Sharma’s Bombay Mirror is a horrific ‘can be.’ In a country as diverse as India, shared tensions become inevitable. However, the movie explores the darkest of emotions that we hide within, & through it, a reality that we cannot refute. While we celebrate India, here’s a prompt of what we should bury.
