What Kajol has to say about male-dominated Bollywood

With artistes getting their owing credit in Bollywood now, big celebrity Kajol says it's the best time for an actor to be in the Hindi movie industry. Kajol, 41, who made a comeback on the silver screen later than a gap of 5 years with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dilwale, said Bollywood has movies for every performer be it male or female dominated.

"Our film production is in a superb phase, where we are at right now. As an actors, we have a world in front of us. "Male, female, hero or heroine & what we used to call character actors, everyone has the chance to have a movie that centres around them with no one taking away anything from anybody. Right now, it's a nice place to be a performer," Kajol said.

Asked her opinion on the female pay disparity in Bollywood & Hollywood, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai star said it's a worldwide issue. "I think it's definitely prevalent in Bollywood. It's world over. It's a male conquered business. I also think we have a Meryl Streep, who has done Mamma Mia!. We have Julia Roberts, who has done Notting mount. I cried in Skyfall later than watching Judi Dench. We have so lots of actresses, who have done so much incredible work today despite being paid less."

Kajol said it's totally fine for a middle-aged actress if she is not receiving to play a college girl. "If you talk concerning typical typecast of a heroine, may be they cannot at present play a 16-year-old bubbly girl & rejecting or not getting roles, that is completely fine. You have to find a movie that works for you."
But the mother of 2 is happy that the scenario is dissimilar in the small screen. "TV has just women-centric shows. On these shows, men are playing the surface roles."
